Course Description
This is a course designed for Year 13 students who seek involvement in the building and construction industry as a future career path. Building and construction unit standards that count towards NCEA will be delivered. Students will be exposed to a variety of processes and conditions typically encountered in the building trade. Industry visits are incorporated into the course.
Safety gear and personal tools are provided.
Students are expected to have their own boots which must be worn in all practical lessons and site visits.
Digital assessment for written requirements will be undertaken therefore personal computers will be an advantage.
Qualifications: Credits towards NCEA and National Certificate in Carpentry.
Cost: $50 for site visits and take home projects

A new course for this subject will be undertaken for the first time in 2019. This course will be digital in format and taken from resources supplied by the BCITO and/or NMIT building course.
No less than 40 credits in level 3 will be offered.
