Course Description
Students explore a design project in depth through a three-page folio presentation. They can also prepare a folio for careers in design. Advanced software is used with computers to complete work for folio presentation.

ART PAINTING - Level 3

Course Description
This course involves the submission of a workbook and three-panel folio which systematically develops an idea through from a historical study of art practice and materials, techniques and generation and study redevelopment of a theme.

ART PHOTOGRAPHY - Level 3

Course Description
This course involves a three-panel folio and workbook presentation exploring and developing ideas based upon a study of photographic tradition as well as materials and techniques. Students may prepare a folio by using computer software and digital printing or by conventional darkroom techniques.

HISTORY OF ART (NCG) - Level 3
Full year course - Prerequisites: Students must meet the entry requirements for Level 3 English.
Students not meeting this requirement may be admitted at the discretion of the HOD.
Course Description:
This course involves exploration of the concepts and techniques used in Art and its socio-historical contexts. Students will evaluate art works' formal elements, symbolism and influences, explore how theory is tied into art, how the art making process profoundly impacts the product and debate the values that are placed on modern art. The focus is Early Modernism making this a helpful theory course for Practical Art students and an interesting study for any student. Qualifications: Credits towards NCEA and University Entrance
