Thank you for your interest in Nelson College. Enrolling you son is a simple Online process. Nelson College is not zoned and we welcome all applications.
Term 4 Orientation Days
Incoming Year 9 Day Students – Friday 13 November
The day will consist of a range of classroom activities to give students a taste of our curriculum and entrance testing to assist with the class placement process. Students should bring a pen, snacks and water bottle for interval and wear current school uniform. Lunch will be provided.
Transport for this day
Nelson Intermediate, Broadgreen and Waimea Intermediate students will be collected by bus or van at 8:45am, from their respective schools. Return transport will leave Nelson College at 2.30pm.
All other students are to make their own way to and from Nelson College to arrive at 9.00am. Students will be dismissed at 2.30pm.
Entrance Interviews – Term 4
During Term 4 the Year 9 Dean, Richard Townsend will be interviewing all students and parents as the initial personal contact for new enrolments. Please contact the school office if you have enrolled your son but not received booking instructions. Phone: 03 548 3099
Incoming Year 9 Boarders – Friday 20 November
As part of our orientation into boarding for our Year 9 boys are invited to attend a New Entrant Day. The purpose of this day is to allow the college to complete the entrance testing required, for the boys to get to know their new Dean, Richard Townsend and for them to spend some time in their future boarding houses. The boys will spend the night in their boarding house, enjoying an evening of activities.
Parents and students will have an interview with the Dean. Times will be forwarded with full details to all accepted incoming Year 9 boarders. Please contact the Boarding Administrator if you have any queries regarding this day.

Please include the following documents with your enrolment application:
- Proof of ‘Domestic Status’ – ie a copy of NZ Birth Certificate, Passport, Residents Permit or similar
- Copy of latest school report
- Copy of Immunisation records (generated from your doctor)
- Learning conditions documentation if applicable
When an online enrolment application is received you will be sent an email of acknowledgement.
All applicants and their parents will be interviewed by their year level deans as an initial personal contact for new enrolments.
