DESIGN TECHNOLOGY (multi materials) - Level 1
Prerequisites: A strong desire to utilise technological and theory knowledge as well as skills in a workshop environment, to create designs that display creativity and inventiveness
Course Description
This course is an introduction into designing and working with wood and metal. The first unit gives students an opportunity to design and make something in wood for a take home project. The second unit is metal based where the students get to make a metal toolbox or wall cabinet.
Leads to Level 2 Design Technology, Engineering, Furniture or BCATS

DESIGN TECHNOLOGY - Level 2
Prerequisites: Minimum 8 credits in both literacy and numeracy or 12 credits in technology. Experience in Design Technology necessary with a strong desire to be creative using technological knowledge and skills in the workshop environment
Course Description
This course is project based and cover design and manufacturing in a material of your choice. You will be designing something to aid and assist with a sport or hobby for yourself, someone else or for a club etc. You will also have an opportunity to learn Computer Aided Design (Solid Works) plus model your design and make components using a 3D printer.
Leads to Level 3 Design Technology

DESIGN TECHNOLOGY - Level 3

Course Description
This course is based on designing, modelling and presenting your ideas to a client of your choice or one supplied by the school. With the approval of your design, you will manufacture the design to meet client specifications. This is an academic course which leads on to university and a degree in design, engineering and manufacturing.
