International Marketing Director
I am the International Marketing Director and I look forward to working with you to provide the very best educational opportunities for your boys at Nelson College. I have been teaching at Nelson College for many years and have been TIC of the Future Problem Solving Programme for Gifted and Talented students and I was also the Tertiary Liaison Dean for Year 13 students organising their university study. Before Nelson College I have lived in Nepal for two years working with the Sherpas in the Sir Edmund Hillary Hospital, lived and taught in England and the United States. I have trained teachers in Thailand and travelled to Laos, Singapore, Chile, Mexico, Europe, the Pacific Islands, Taiwan, China, Vietnam, Korea & Indonesia.
Chris Hart, BA (Hons)
My role as International Director is to ensure the International students at Nelson College are happy and successful. I am responsible for all their academic, pastoral and co-curricular needs. I have been in the role since 2014 and I have worked at Nelson College since 2005 teaching English.
I have worked at Nelson College for close to 10 years having worked in the Finance Office including being a Housemaster for 4 years in Rutherford House, one of the College’s boarding hostels. In 2015 I was appointed to the position of International Marketing Assistant, responsible for the South American market.
My role is to assist with the International Marketing, Finance and Recruitment for the College, and I look forward to working with you to provide the best educational, sporting and social opportunities for your boys at Nelson College.
I came to Nelson College in February 2011 and I have a Masters Degree in Linguistics. I am Head of the ESOL Department. I am a very experienced teacher who has taught in a number of schools throughout New Zealand. I am responsible for the academic programmes and ensuring that International students gain the Literacy credits necessary for University Entrance. I have travelled throughout Asia and the Middle East and I have an in-depth understanding of people from other cultures. I have also been an International Dean and I have represented my previous Principal at international conferences.
International Manager & Homestay Coordinator
I have worked at Nelson College for 10 years and thoroughly enjoy working with the International boys.
My role is to process enrolment applications once they have been accepted. I greet the students from Nelson airport and settle them into their accommodation. If boys are in homestay I arrange suitable families, and monitor the families and the boys to make sure the placement is successful. I also help them with opening bank accounts, school uniform requirements, applying for visas and all international boys’ holiday plans.
