Notice from the Nelson City Council
Work will start on 1 March 2016 on two significant Nelson City Council stormwater upgrades, to prevent flooding such as that seen in December 2011.
Little Go Stream (Between Hampden Street and the Waimea Road end of Rutherford Street) and York Stream (Boundary Road/Caltex Garage area) stormwater drainage systems will be enlarged to cope with 100 year (Q100) floods. Both projects are designated in the 2015-2025 Long Term Plan.
Works are expected to get underway on 1 March 2016, and will result in some disruption to traffic flows along Waimea Road. Council contractors will have a traffic management plan in place and two-way traffic will be maintained over three lanes.
Please follow all contractor road signage and take extra care when dropping off and picking up children from school. Council recommends planning your journey in advance and allowing extra time during the period of the road works.
